La Pericola- operette salsahaltig
A south american island in summer. And with a dictatorship. Pericóla und Piquillo are street singers and we all know that it´s no job to make good money- specially in a poor country.
Don Andres, the Boss of the island, fall in love with the pretty Pericóla. She could simply go with him and get something to eat- but what about this thing with her lover Piquillo? If Pericóla success with her smartness, she could bring something to eat for her Piquillo, take advantage of the despote and stay alive. The operetta La Perichòle of Jaques Offenbach is a ironic pladoyer against the will of the powerfull, an approach to the concernings of the daily life of the poor and the communication's problem between men and women.

We place the story (originally situated in Peru) in a cuban Streetcafé
- with more than clear referrals to Fidel Castro's Regime. We also put
a big portion of Salsa inside...

With special arrangements for a Salsa trio (piano, trumpet and drums), we present this emocional theatre experience. The public seats in confortable couches in the staged pub and helps also singing the last song... with only three main actors, canteatro tells this story in a clear and understandable way- everything in German, of course.
